How is it that Equipoise® does not damage abutment teeth when used in a free-end saddle design?

The Class II Lever balance of force principles utilized by the Equipoise® designed system creates forces along the long axis of the abutment tooth with passive retention. These applied forces are kind and gentle to abutment teeth.

Can an Equipoise® designed RPD be used when bite opening is indicated?

Yes! When bite opening is indicated and proper vertical is to be re-established, Equipoise® onlays can be incorporated into the design, Equipoise® designed RPDs are an excellent way to re-establish vertical in TMD related cases.

Can Equipoise® be used to make a nesbit or unilateral type removable partial denture?

Yes! During mastication, Equipoise® removable partial dentures stabilize the abutment tooth when stability, not retention is indicated. The Equipoise® clasp retains the prosthesis when it is out of function. Equipoise® partials are always stable because of the Class II lever design system.

What is the best impression material to use when taking an RPD impression of existing dentition, or when taking an impression when crowns are involved?

When taking an impression of existing dentition, use alginate and pour immediately in a yellow buff stone. When picking up crowns, use a single body poly-ether, or a single body poly-vinyl solaxane impression material. Never pick up in alginate.

What indicators can be used to evaluate whether or not a tooth can be a candidate for an Equipoise® abutment?

The Equipoise® Class II lever system is designed to strengthen, protect and preserve abutment teeth. It is recommended that an abutment tooth have no more then 70% bone loss, and 1mm mobility.
